Apple Design God Jonathan Ive has picked up his Knighthood from Princess Anne in London.
Chingford born Ive received word of his knighthood in the New Year’s Honours List in January, and received his title of “Sir” at the Palace today in a ceremony conducted by Princess Anne.
In a rare interview with The Telegraph Ive spoke about the fact he’s now ‘Sir Jony’. He said, “I’m very aware of an incredible tradition in the UK of designing and making, and so to be recognised in this way is really wonderful.”
Speaking about his work on the iconic Iphone and Ipad designs, he added, “We try to develop products that seem somehow inevitable. That leaves you with the sense that that’s the only possible solution that makes sense.
“Our products are tools and we don’t want design to get in the way. We’re trying to bring simplicity and clarity; we’re trying to order the products.”
